Angel Tree Signups Are Closed — Here’s the Christmas Help Still Open in Fort Worth
We will start with the hard news, because waiting on false hope helps nobody: Salvation Army Angel Tree applications for Christmas 2026 are already closed in North Texas. The window opened and filled early, the way it does every year. If you missed it, you are not out of options — but the remaining programs move fast too, so read this today, not in December.
What Angel Tree was (for next year)
Angel Tree registers children ages 0–14 and seniors 65 and up; donors buy new clothes and toys from each Angel’s wish list. Applications were online only, with ID, proof of income, proof of residence, and proof of each child’s age. For 2027: apply the moment applications open in late summer/early fall — this year’s window closed before Halloween. Set yourself a reminder for August.
Still open: Toys for Tots
The Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program takes toy requests through its local campaigns, not a national hotline. Here is the exact route: go to toysfortots.org, choose “Request a Toy,” pick Texas, then the Fort Worth/Tarrant County campaign — the local page lists its own request window, rules, and coordinator contact. Local deadlines are set by the chapter and they close when the toy supply is committed, so start this week.
Also in Tarrant County
Cowboy Santas — a Tarrant County program running since 1981 — gives toys to children ages 0–12 in low-income families, plus “Silver Stars” gifts for seniors. Check the program’s official site or dial 2-1-1 for this year’s application status before you go.
GRACE Christmas Cottage (Grapevine) — for families in the GRACE service area in Northeast Tarrant County. Parents “shop” a store-like cottage of donated toys and household gifts with dignity and privacy. The fastest route is connecting with a GRACE Care Manager — walk-ins at their Grapevine office run Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m., but appointments are strongly encouraged.
While you are planning December
Christmas help covers gifts. The same month brings heating bills, school-break groceries, and rent. Our free checker matches your household with help in all of those — food, utilities, rent, childcare — in about two minutes: See what you qualify for. Or browse all local programs.
And one honest tip: for any Christmas program, bring the same documents Angel Tree asked for — photo ID, proof of income, proof of address, and proof of each child’s age. Nearly every program asks, and having them ready is the difference between a finished application and a second trip.
