3 Fort Worth Housing Waitlists Open November 1–5 — The Voucher List Is Still Closed
Five days. That is the whole window. Fort Worth Housing Solutions opens three project-based housing waitlists on Sunday, November 1 at 8 a.m., and they close Thursday, November 5 at 5 p.m. If your family needs a subsidized apartment, this is the week to be ready — and to be clear about what is not opening, so nobody wastes hope in the wrong line.
What is opening: 3 properties
Applications are online only, through FWHS’s RentCafé portal:
- Hughes House III — 4912 East Rosedale Street — 1- and 2-bedroom
- Sedona Village Senior Living — 2800 Sedona Ranch Drive — 2-bedroom (senior living)
- Cowan Place — 5400 East Rosedale Street — 1- and 2-bedroom
FWHS subsidy standards allow two people per bedroom. If you do not have an account on the portal, you must register first — do that before November 1, so the opening morning is one login, not a scavenger hunt. No computer at home? FWHS points applicants to local libraries. If a disability makes the online application hard, call FWHS at 817-333-3400 for help completing the pre-application.
What is NOT opening: the voucher waitlist
The big Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) waitlist remains closed — FWHS is not accepting voucher applications, and it last opened briefly in July 2025. Anyone charging a fee to “get you on the list” is running a scam; applying is always free, through FWHS only.
The three properties above are project-based: the help is tied to those buildings, not a voucher you carry elsewhere. For many families that is still a real, stable home at a rent they can pay — do not skip them just because they are not the voucher.
Get told the day the next list opens
These windows open and close in days, and miss-by-a-week is the normal story. We track FWHS announcements and keep a free alert list for Fort Worth housing openings: sign up on our rent and housing programs page — when a waitlist opens, we email the list the same day.
Until then, if rent is the emergency right now, there is help that does not wait for a list — emergency rent assistance, shelters, and legal help against eviction. Our free checker covers them in about two minutes: See what you qualify for. Our earlier guide, The Fort Worth voucher waitlist is closed. Here’s the rent help that’s still open, walks through what is available today.
