Veterans Day in Fort Worth: The Parade, Free Admission, and Free Meals
Veterans Day is Wednesday, November 11, and Fort Worth marks it the way it has for more than a century — with one of the oldest veterans parades in the country, a free day at the Botanic Garden, and free meals for veterans around town. Here is the day, planned out.
The parade — steps off at 11 a.m.
The 107th annual Tarrant County Veterans Day Parade, organized by the Tarrant County Veterans Council with the City of Fort Worth, carries the theme “Saluting Our Nation — 250 Years of Veterans in Service.” The morning starts at Panther Island Pavilion with an opening ceremony at 10:30 a.m. — colors, the anthem, the city’s proclamation, a 21-gun salute, “Taps,” and a fly-over by Marine Aircraft Group 41.
The parade itself steps off at 11 a.m. and marches until about 12:30 p.m.: up Belknap Street, around the Tarrant County Courthouse, down Commerce Street, across 5th, and up Houston Street before returning to Panther Island. It is free, and the public is invited — arrive early for a good spot near the courthouse.
Free admission at the Botanic Garden
The Fort Worth Botanic Garden lists Wednesday, November 11 as a free admission day for Veterans Day — tickets $0. If a quiet walk beats a parade crowd, that is your day. 3220 Botanic Garden Blvd.
Free meals for veterans on November 11
Restaurants thank veterans with free meals every year. These 2026 offers are confirmed in Military.com’s annual roundup — all need a valid military ID or proof of service, all are dine-in at participating locations, and it is worth a quick call to your location before you go:

- Cotton Patch Cafe (a Texas chain, with Fort Worth locations) — free Chicken Fried Steak or Chicken Fried Chicken entrée.
- Chili’s — free meal from a select menu.
- Bob Evans — free meal from a select menu.
- In-N-Out Burger — a complimentary meal (burger, fries, and a drink) with proof of service.
